Cinemo Supports The Newest Intel® Atom™ Processor To Bring Unrivalled Entertainment Experience To Next Generation Multimedia
Cinemo’s media and streaming solutions now offer widespread compatibility for Intel® Atom™ processor E6xx series
September, 14 2010, Karlsruhe, Germany – Cinemo, developers of performance enhanced embedded multimedia technologies for in-vehicle infotainment (IVI), consumer electronics, and industrial embedded computing, have today announced that Cinemo’s embedded playback solutions are fully optimized for the Intel® Atom™ processor E6xx series, formerly code-named Tunnel Creek.
With extensive multimedia capabilities and utmost power efficiency, the richest high definition multimedia playback on the go, from IP-phones to IVI, is now possible when the Intel® platform is coupled with Cinemo’s® Media Engine.
Cinemo is a highly efficient embedded multimedia playback stack that includes all common disc, audio, video, and streaming formats. Performance-critical components are hand optimized to ensure the fastest and most reliable playback experience whilst its modular software architecture allows customized solutions on multiple platforms, updating single components as well as extending the feature set by adding individual elements for new formats, codec’s, post-processing features or target platforms. With simultaneous playback of multiple HD streams in all formats and distributed playback to multiple clients, Cinemo offers outstanding multimedia performance with ultra low power consumption.
Cinemo’s distributed playback is a software solution enabling the synchronized presentation and interactive control of linear or non-linear multimedia content by multiple clients over a low-bandwidth network. Cinemo’s distributed playback technology is hardware-agnostic working over a wide range of network protocols including TCP, UDP and MOST. Supporting an unlimited number of clients, distributed playback incorporates advanced latency-compensation technology, enabling perfect lip-sync between all clients. Cinemo’s distributed playback solution is optimized for Intel Atom processors. Capable of utilizing dedicated video hardware accelerators, Cinemo supports playback of HD content while freeing up the Intel Atom processor to address other demanding workloads.
“The combination of the Intel® Atom™ processor E6xx series and Cinemo’s embedded playback technology enable an uncompromised home-theatre-like entertainment experience with supreme power efficiency” said Jim Corbett, Executive Vice President of Cinemo. “We are very confident therefore that this will provide a compelling offering in Intel® architecture-based multimedia solutions.”
“By Cinemo optimizing their playback technology for the Intel® Atom™ processor E6xx series, developers of in-vehicle infotainment systems can benefit by being able to quickly and efficiently deliver a high quality multimedia experience that consumers demand,” says Jonathan Luse, director of marketing for the Intel Low Power Embedded Products Division.
