Cinemo and Gracenote Align To Enable a New Entertainment Experience for the Connected Car
Collaboration is set to offer revolutionary new ways to consume media in an automotive setting
Karlsruhe, Germany, January 7th, 2014 – Cinemo, a global leader in high performance automotive grade middleware for multimedia playback, streaming, media management and connectivity, and Gracenote®, the leader in music recognition technology and metadata, will closely cooperate to seamlessly combine Gracenote’s technologies with Cinemo’s Unified Media Player™. These advancements will be the basis for next generation in-car entertainment solutions that leverage the way content can be enriched in dramatic new ways.
Gracenote improves how drivers access and manage their music through music recognition technology, licensed Cover Art and playlisting. Its next iteration of infotainment innovations will further improve the music experience on the road by identifying and adapting to a driver’s listening behavior, musical tastes and listening context, as well as linking them to favorite Cloud music services. Together, Gracenote’s technology and metadata will provide for a safer and more personalized experience on the open road.
Gracenote has a long history of working with automotive makers and recently announced the integration of its technology and music metadata into its 50 millionth car. Cinemo is already the recipient of two CES 2014 Innovations Design and Engineering Honoree Awards, and is fast becoming the multimedia provider of choice for automotive with a fast growing number of worldwide design wins.
“Using Gracenote’s leading technologies along with Cinemo’s high performance middleware extends an already innovative concept in Infotainment Usability and Control,” said Jim Corbett, Executive Vice President and Co-founder of Cinemo GmbH. “This new deep integration will provide a unique cohesive solution for all Tier-1 and OEMs to incorporate in any IVI development process.”
“As we transition to always connected entertainment systems in cars, it’s important to find technology partners who share the same vision of the future,” said Ty Roberts, CTO and co-founder, Gracenote. “Cinemo and Gracenote share a vision for the next generation in-vehicle entertainment experience. With Cinemo, we are confident that we will be able to connect the latest entertainment devices to infotainment systems and help drivers manage and navigate large digital media libraries for a safer and more customized entertainment experience.”
